Human rights activist Sayed Yousif Al-Muhafda published on the "X" platform the names of those responsible for human rights violations against prisoners of conscience in Jaw Central Prison.

The Jaw Prison administration told the AFP that "all inmates have the right to non-violent protest," claiming that "additional care and advice have been afforded to them."

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that Iran gives much importance to its relations with Bahrain and that messages are being exchanged between the two countries and indirect negotiations are currently underway.

The Wall Street Journal stated that political prisoner in Jaw Prison Ahmed Jaafar, who is on hunger strike, was verbally and physically abused by officers and police in prison and transferred to solitary confinement.

The number of political detainees in Jaw Central Prison on hunger strike on their 20th day has increased to 804, according to Ahmed Al-Wadaei, director of the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD).

Bahraini activists in diaspora announced that they go on a hunger strike on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, "in solidarity, support and advocacy for the oppressed political prisoners on hunger strike in Bahrain's prisons."

Sayed Abdullah Al-Ghuraifi stressed that "the homeland only becomes stable by approaching crises with wisdom, awareness and insight," pointing out that "the unemployment crisis confuses the homeland and prisons' overcrowding worsens the paths and complaints of detainees need to be seriously addressed."

The Friday preacher of the Imam Sadiq Mosque in Diraz Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour, said that "the prisoners' cause is still a pending issue, despite the fact that it is a purely humanitarian cause," hoping that "it is addressed as the homeland deserves that we strive to take the path that'll overcome its pain and that of its people."

Bahrainis residing in A'ali denounced the statements of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdulnabi Salman, who commended the human rights situation in Bahrain, and praised the role of human rights agencies affiliated with the authorities.
