King Hamad Receives Representatives of Islamic endowments and Hussainya Processions

Bahrain Mirror: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received (Sunday, May 31, 2015) members of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and representatives of the Islamic endowments.

King Hamad called for "promoting Islamic precepts of tolerance and co-existence in these circumstances that require us to unite in order to maintain national peace and work on countering the oppressive campaigns against Islam."

The king also met members of the General Authority for Hussainya Processions and said that Bahrain will always remain the country of co-existence, tolerance, solidarity and security for its closely-knit people.

These meetings were held after two Shiite mosques in Al-Qatif and Dammam, Saudi Eastern Province, were attacked by a suicide bombing that the Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for.

Shiites in Saudi Arabia blame the school curricula and religious speeches that describe them as infidels. Meanwhile Shiites in Bahrain complain about the same issue.

The Bahraini authority abolished about 38 Shiites mosques amid a campaign against the popular protests that aimed at putting an end to Al Khalifa control over power.

The Bahraini army, which publishes religious books that describe Shiites as infidels, gave a hand in demolishing mosques and sabotaging Shiite tombs and Hussainyas. Moreover, the army spokesman used to mock the Shiite majority on his Twitter account.
