Bahrain Mirror: The "Bawabat Al-Bahrain" website announced its closure after 10 years of work due to a number of prosecutions, as it posted on its page on Saturday (July 18, 2015).

The Bawabat Al-Bahrain website is a pro-regime website. It supported the regime in all its repressive moves since March 2011, which backfired at them in the end.

The announcement published by Al-Wasat newspaper read: "We declare the closure of Bawabat Al-Bahrain website in addition to all its accounts on the social media for many reasons, mainly, not being able to bear the legal accountability as there are several lawsuits filed against the website."

"We point out that after long-lasting perseverance to stay, we will totally stop publishing the latest local and international news. We tried to attain our independence and we endured the fury of the red eyes and those who attempt to halt the potentials of our youth by filing lawsuits and complaints against Bawabat Al-Bahrain," the announcement further read.

"It seems that some people in the Kingdom of Bahrain do not want the potentials of the Bahraini youth to be invested. These youths sacrificed their time and distanced themselves from their families to reveal the truth and refute the rumors that hit Bahrain since the unfortunate events of 2011 and since the establishment of the website in 2005," it added.

The managers of the website continued in what seemed like an imploration: "It hurts us to be prosecuted and tried in the courts after we have defended the security and Arabism of Bahrain."
