Bahrain Mirror: Sayed Salman Al-Mahfouz, the Secretary-General of the General Federation of Bahraini Trade Unions (GFBTU), discussed with Al-Wasat Newspaper the latest updates of the trilateral agreement signed on March 10, 2014 that stipulated rehiring 165 dismissed workers. Al-Mahfouz said that "a meeting was held with the Minister of Labor in order to activate the work of the trilateral committee and find a solution to the pending issues. Based on the meeting, it was decided to hold other meetings with the remained dismissed workers and the administrations of the competent parties responsible for dismissals in both major companies and the public sector and work on resolving the issue of insurance covering the period of dismissal."

Al-Mahfouz stated that out of the 165 dismissed, there are still about 50. "Their cases are being followed up at the public sector and major companies, or replacements are being searched for in the private sector in case it was difficult to return them to their jobs," he added.

As for the measures taken by the GFBTU in order to put an end to the sufferings of the dismissed workers and close this case, Al-Mahfouz explained that "GFBTU is contacting decision makers of various ranks in the government such as the Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. The federation is also continuing its meetings with the production parties either through the trilateral committee or with the Minister of Labor and the team working for him in the ministry."
