Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini cabinet discussed during its meeting held on Monday (August 10, 2015) the memo presented by the Minister of Interior Rashid Al Khalifa that proposes "obligating institutions, malls, commercial shops and other establishments owned by companies or individuals to install surveillance cameras and connect them to the Ministry of Interior," in the framework of what the cabinet described as "support for the government's approaches to maintain peace and guarantee protecting public and private properties."

The cabinet decided in the meeting to assign "the ministerial committee for legal affairs to conduct the required legislative studies."

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Interior took advantage of the threats made by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) against the Shiites in Bahrain by installing surveillance cameras in mosques and in their areas and directly connecting them to the Ministry of Interior. Activists deemed this step an attempt to tighten the grip and spy on activists and dissidents in Bahrain.
