Saudi Activist Banned from Travel Receives Int’l Human Rights Award

Bahrain Mirror: Saudi human rights activist, Samar Badawi, who is banned from travel, received the International Hrant Dink Award for human rights.

The Hrant Dink Foundation, which is concerned with human rights issues and combating discrimination, sectarianism and violence, said that the human rights defender, Samar Badawi, is the recipient of its award for 2015.

The president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) and human rights defender, Nabeel Rajab, said that Saudi women should be proud that activist Badawi was granted this prize.

It is noteworthy that Badawi is the wife of the currently detained Saudi human rights defender, Waleed Abulkhair, who is sentenced to 15 years in prison.
