Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini court of appeals presided over by judge Isa Al-Ka'abi and Nawwaf Khalfan as a secretariat upheld the ruling of a court of first instance against two appealers who were sentenced to life imprisonment over a bombing case in Bani Jamra.

The Public Prosecution accused the two suspects that they on May 29, 2013, along with other unknown suspects, deliberately killed a policeman and used explosive materials in a place visited by crowds, which left another policeman injured. The two suspects, along with other unknown suspects, also acquired explosive materials without a license from the Minister of Interior, aiming at disrupting security. They also deliberately set fire to affiliated to mobile properties of the ministries of health and interior. The prosecution also accused them of participating in an assembly, along with other unknown suspects, in a public place that included over five persons aiming at disrupting public peace, in addition to acquiring Molotov cocktails.

Human rights organizations challenged the charges raised against the suspects since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
