10-Year Prison Term Handed Down to 5 Suspects over Setup of Bomb Replica in Tubli

Bahrain Mirror: The First Bahraini High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Muhammad bin Ali Al Khalifa with the membership of judges Dia' Huraidi and Issam-Eldeen Mohammad Khalil and Naji Abdullah as secretariat, sentenced five suspects, between ages of 16 and 24 years old, to 10 years in prison on Tuesday (October 20, 2015) over setting up bomb replica, starting fire and protesting.

The court stated that the accused on December 5, 2014, "set up along with other unknown suspects in a public place a replica manifesting the appearance of explosives leading to the belief that they are real explosives, aiming at carrying out a terrorist purpose, and purposely started a fire endangering people's lives and properties. They also participated in an assembly made up of five persons for the purpose of committing crimes and threatening public security, using violence to achieve their goal which they gathered to fulfill."

The authorities said that they received a report about a fire and an explosives replica on December 5, 2014 in Tubli, claiming that its investigations "led to discovering the involvement of a suspect and others in the incident.
