Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa claimed that his country is concerned with protecting human rights, describing its human rights record as "honorable".

Hamad bin Isa's statements came a week after Human Rights Watch issued a full report in which it disclosed Bahrain's use of torture to extract confessions from dissents, who aim at putting an end to Al Khalifa monopoly over the power.

During his meeting with members of the National Institute for Human Rights, Hamad bin Isa vowed to support everything that respects these rights.

"Bahrain is committed to international human rights covenants and laws," the king further stated, adding that the institute has gained international reputation and respect thanks to its work which is characterized by objectivity and conformity with Bahrain's honorable record of human rights and freedom.

The Bahrain Independent Commission of inquiry report has disclosed the patterns of torture which the political detainees have been subjected to five years ago, which are the same patterns disclosed by the HRW report last week.
