Bahrain Mirror: The preacher of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Bahrain's Diraz, Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour, demanded in his Friday sermon "the release of female prisoners" stressing that "this does not undermine the country's security and stability."

Sheikh Sanqour said that clerics of both sects stress on "women's capacity, from an Islamic perspective, to practice the role of opposition, and that women, just like men, have the right to express their views, protest and criticize all the issues related to the government's performance, as women are part of this country's citizens."

Sheikh Sanqour concluded his sermon by saying: "On the occasion of Bahraini Women's Day, I reiterate the demand to release female prisoners, as keeping them behind bars damages the country's reputation while releasing them does not undermine the country's security and stability." He also called on the government to reconsider this urging problem from a humanitarian perspective. "Bear the country's norms and Arab traditions in mind when looking into this case," he further stated.
