Bahrain Mirror: Sayed Abbas Sayed Kadhem (40 years old) from the Bahraini village of Saar was the first victim of Sickle Cell Anaemia in 2016.

Kadhem was admitted to the hospital on August 2015 due to complications of Sickle Cell Anaemia and was transferred to the intensive care unit. The complications of the disease had increased on January 8, 2016 and thus he was transferred to intensive care for a second time. He died on Wednesday (January 13, 2016).

The Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Anaemia Patient Care mourned the death of one of its founding members who helped registered the society in the Ministry of Development in 2006 and who was one of the society's important figures in its first few years.

Haj Maatouk Omran (65 yearsold ), from Mahaza in the island of Sitra, passed away on Wednesday (January 13, 2016). According to the society, he died as a result of sickle disease complications. He is considered to be the second victim of Sickle Cell Anemia in 2016.

Omran is a father of a boy and four girls. He was admitted to the hospital due to his disease and complications of a surgery that he underwent a short while ago. After he was transferred to the intensive care unit, he passed away.
