Ibrahim Karimi Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison & Fined 2,100 BD

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Fifth Minor Criminal Court sentenced the prisoners of conscience Ibrahim Karimi, also fining him 2,100 Bahraini dinars. Karimi was convicted over charges of insulting the King of Bahrain and a friendly state, although he denied the charges.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Al-Muharraq Governorate, Moza Al-Na'ar, has previously said that "the investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution regarding the owner of "Fareej Karimi" account, show that the tweets posted incited hatred against the regime and insulted a foreign country and its head, affecting its relations with the Bahraini Kingdom." She further alleged that "the Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security Investigation Department revealed that the account that posted these tweets is owned by the same person who wrote them."

During interrogation, Karimi denied that he managed the account and said that he was only a follower.
