Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Fourth High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Rashid bin Ahmad Al Khalifa with the memberships of judges Osama Al-Shadhili and Wael Ibrahim, and Ahmad Al-Sulaiman as secretariat, sentenced 3 suspects to 3 years in prison over burning ATM in Manama

The court said that due to the circumstances of the case and given that the suspects are under 18, their sentence was commuted pursuant to article 70/71 of the penal code.

The Public Prosecution accused the first two suspects of deliberately setting fire to an ATM, endangering people's lives and properties. It accused the third suspect of agreeing with the first two suspects to commit the said crime through providing them with necessary equipment for a terrorist aim.

Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
