Bahrain Mirror: The Chief Prosecutor's procurator of the Terrorist Crimes Prosecution, Hamad Shaheen, announced that investigations were concluded in the illegal establishment of the "Zulfiqar Brigades" case, noting that the trial hearings of 138 defendants will begin on August 23, 2016.

The prosecution stated that 86 detained defendants and 52 at large have been charged with organizing and managing a terrorist group in violation of law regulations, contacting with foreign countries and who work for them to commit acts of aggression against Bahrain, assembling, rioting, having possession of flammable materials and damaging other people's properties.

The Ministry of Interior had said in November 2015 that it took into custody 47 persons whom it described as "the most dangerous terrorist members", which are accusations usually raised against Shia activists who seek to put an end to the ruling Al Khalifa family's monopoly over power.

In a statement aired on state television, the ministry said: "A large amount of highly explosive materials and firearms were confiscated from secret warehouses in a number of villages located in residential areas."
