Bahrain Mirror-Exclusive: Thousands of angry mourners took part on Tuesday (August 2, 2016) in the funeral procession of martyr Hassan Al-Hayiki who died in prison 24 days following his arrest due to torture.

Mourners wandered the streets of Manama, despite the regime's attempts to ban them.

They held photos for Al-Hayiki (35 years) and chanted slogans against King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, bearing him responsibility of human rights violations in prisons.

A report issued by an inquiry commission, appointed by the king, to investigate February and March 2011 incidents, documented the death of several detainees under torture, however, the authorities did not bring any of the perpetrators accountable.

Fellow detainees of Al-Hayiki issued a statement in which they stressed that he was subjected to torture and that he reported to the Public Prosecution. They also highlighted that the prison's authorities intended to neglect Al-Hayiki's health conditions before they transferred him to the hospital.
