Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini authorities arrested on Thursday (August 4, 2016) prominent Shiite cleric Mohammad Jawad al-Shihabi. Security forces took Sheikh al-Shihabi to the Police station in Budaiya, after he was arrested at a checkpoint in the town of Diraz, west of the Bahraini capital, Manama.

Thousands of demonstrators are still holding an open rally around the house of the country's Shia spiritual leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, after the latter's citizenship was revoked by the Bahraini authorities on June 20.
