Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini German Organization for Human Rights and Democracy said that Bahraini detainee Ahmad Al-Ghasra, who was sentenced to more than 180 years of imprisonment, has been held in solitary confinement since over 6 months ago.

Al-Ghasra's family expressed their "concern over his fate and fear for his life since he has been subjected to torture in solitary confinement for six months now," reported the organization.

His family further called on human rights organizations and the Red Cross to immediately intervene in order to stop the ongoing systematic torture practiced against Al-Ghasra, and pressure the Bahraini authorities into removing him from solitary confinement.

The Bahraini German Organization noted that 19-year-old Al-Ghasra was pursued by the authorities for over three years, adding that he was attacked by security forces in 2013, who fired internationally banned shotgun pellets at him targeting his head. Security forces also beat him with batons directly after he sustained injuries from the shotgun shots. Medical reports say that there were 5 pieces of shrapnel in sensitive spots in his head.
