Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Appeals Court, presided over by Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa, with the secretariat of Naji Abdullah, upheld a first-degree verdict sentencing detainee, Ahmad Shaker, to one-year in prison over throwing his shoes at judge Ali Khalifa Al-Dhahrani during his trial.

Deputy Prosecutor Mohammed Khamis Al-Rumaihi announced after the first-degree verdict was issued that the fourth high criminal court sentenced a suspect to one year in prison with the execution of the sentence over insulting the court.

Al-Rumaihi added that while the fourth criminal court was held "one of the suspects insulted the jury, aiming at undermining its prestige. Thus, the prosecution demanded to write down what happened in the court's minutes because it is considered a crime. The prosecution accused the detainee of publicly undermining the prestige of the court and ordered to apply article 244 of the Bahraini penal code against him."
