15-Year Prison Verdict against 3 Accused of Setting Fire in Khamis Police Station

Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeals upheld a 15-year imprisonment verdict against 3 defendants in the case of setting fire at Khamis police station.

The High Criminal Court had sentenced 22 defendants accused of burning the Khamis Police Station, to 15 years in prison. This came after the Public Prosecution accused then on September 7, 2013, of deliberately setting fire to Ministry of Interior-owned vehicles, taking part in illegal assembly, and possessing explosive cocktails.

According to the prosecution, the defendants, along with other unknown individuals, estimated to be around 40 individuals participating in the Khamis protest, attacked the Khamis Police Station, through throwing Molotov explosives. This resulted in the destruction of three towers, and a security patrol vehicle.
