Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wasat Newspaper reported, based on numbers by the royal court responsible for the employment in ministries and government bodies, that the year 2013, witnessed the employment of the biggest number of foreign workers, amounting to 1212 foreigners. The number added that year 2016, witnessed the employment of 147 foreigners.

The government increased its policy of depriving Shiites from working in the government sector since 2011, after vast protests broke out against the Al Khalifa monopoly of power.

The announced numbers do not include the employments in the military and security apparatuses, as it is believed Bahrain has recruited thousands of Pakistanis and Jordanian to crack down the uprising.
