Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Minister of Housing, Bassem Al Hamar confirmed that the East Sitra housing project is not listed in the GCC Marshal projects, pointing out the lack of required budget to implement the project.

The 2011 Gulf Summit approved, after the outbreak of popular uprising in Bahrain, the GCC Financial aid project worth $10 billion, to help Bahrain in easing the protest pulse.

According to the government-affiliated Al-Watan newspaper, Al Hamar confirmed the lack of "required budget for the ministry to implement the East Sitra housing project". He also indicated that the housing bank is working with the private sector to find solutions and implement the project.

Moreover, the Bahraini Minister of Housing said, "We are working very hard on the East Sitra project and are trying to attain the funds needed for the project, and once these funds are provided, the project will be launched to join other projects in big cities."

He also denied that the east Sitra project was included in one of the GCC Financial aid program.

Bahrain and GCC countries allocate the Marshal funds for big projects in pro-government areas, while areas with opposition residence are deprived of these projects.

Saudi Arabia had allocated budgets for the Janoubiya housing project (1560 units) and al-Ramli housing project (1247 units), while the UAE funds the construction of (1500 units) in East Al Hidd, in addition to other projects in Jaw and Askar.
