Court Issues 6-Month Jail Term against Bahraini with Special Needs over “Beating Policeman”

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's fifth high court presided over by judge Ibrahim Al-Zayed and Yousif Buhardan as a secretariat issued 6-month jail term against a Bahraini (36 years) with special needs for beating a policeman while performing his duty in arresting his wanted brother.

The court turned to one of Minister of Justice & Islamic Affairs employees' specialist in sign languages for the suspect is of the special needs (deaf and mute). The charge was recited on the suspect in the sign language and he denied it.   

The authorities claim that while the policeman and others were executing arrest warrant on July 10, 2016 against a wanted over a case, the policeman knocked at the door and a woman opened. He told her about his mission and she allowed him to search the house. While doing so, a policeman was surprised being beaten and hit by the wanted brother. While the policeman was trying to stop the suspect, the first fell on the ground and the suspect fell on the policeman's right leg causing him severe pain. The accompanying force could control the situation.

The court confirmed that it sentenced the suspect with mercy and sentenced him to 6 months in prison.
