Northern Municipality Reduces Garbage Containers in Buri due to Riots

2017-03-15 - 8:44 p

Bahrain Mirror: The Northern region Municipality said it had reduced the number of garbage containers in the town of Buri temporarily. The municipality said this comes in a prior agreement between it and the company, providing that garbage containers are removed from some areas temporarily, due to riots.

In response to a complaint published by local newspaper al-Wasat, the municipality said there are photos showing that many garbage containers were damaged in Buri.

Bahrain had witnessed a vast wave of protests in February and March 2011 in the Pearl (Lualua) Roundabout in the capital Manama, before Saudi and Emirati forces joined the Bahraini regime in its crackdown against the protests.

Since the crush of pro-democracy protests in the Pearl Roundabout, protesters started staging their rallies in towns and villages, which have been facing clashes with security forces for over 6 years. Security campaigns, however, were unsuccessful in eliminating protests.
