Head of Parliament Financial Committee: Selective Tax to be Imposed at Onset of 2018

Bahrain Mirror: The Chairman of the Bahraini Parliament's Financial and Economic Committee, MP Abdul Rahman Buali, declared that the selective tax will be applied early next year.

He explained in a press release that the amount of revenues expected from the implementation of the selective tax in the first year will reach 58 million dinars.

He further highlighted that the Financial and Economic Committee met with the Minister of Finance and discussed all the provisions of the Gulf Convention and the draft selective tax law.

Buali explained that the committee will vote in an extraordinary meeting next Sunday on the draft law as referred to them and submit it to the Committee for a vote in the next meeting, adding that if approved, the selective tax will be imposed on those goods at the beginning of next year 2018.
