PHOTOS: Municipality Clears 53 Street Vendor Spots in Ras Zuaid

Bahrain Mirror: The Southern Governorate Municipality in Bahrain organized a campaign in the Ras Zuaid area, Complex 952, in cooperation and coordination with the Southern Governorate Security Directorate, to clear spots of (Asian) street vendors that violate laws and regulations.

This large-scale crackdown on violations enters its second consecutive week, as 53 different spots for street vendors were cleared along the inner road in the Ras Zuaid area, extending over around 300 meters.

The municipality said in a statement that the security forces had arrested 19 Asian workers who violated the conditions of residency, adding that legal measures will be taken against them. Two other vendors who sell products on the main street were also transferred to the competent authorities to have legal action taken against them.

It further stated that it has removed 53 different stands, including stands for selling vegetables, fruits, clothes, electrical appliances, fish and other products.

The Municipality stressed that it is continuing its campaigns aimed at correcting violations in various areas, in implementation of the laws and regulatory requirements, calling on everyone to cooperate and initiate to correct the violations, in order to preserve the cultural appearance and urban layout that the Kingdom of Bahrain is characterized by.
