2018-04-17 - 8:45 p

Bahrain Mirror: The Government approved a bill to amend article 3 of law regulating the exercise of political rights preventing opposition from running in elections and referred it to the council of representatives.

The bill bans people who were sentenced to criminal offences or imprisonment in premeditated crimes for a period exceeding 6 months, even if pardoned, from running in the election. The bill also stipulates banning the members and officials of political societies that were permanently dissolved in a final judicial verdict or those who intended to violate or disrupt parliamentary and constitutional life by terminating or resigning from the Council, or those whose memberships were dropped for these reasons, from running in the election.
