Al-Wefaq Launches Initiative for Political Solution Entitled "Bahrain Declaration"

Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition political group in Bahrain, launched an initiative entitled the "Bahrain Declaration", which included its outlook within the framework of a political project to resolve the political crisis in Bahrain.

The Declaration marks the first step towards a political solution, which Al-Wefaq described as an infrastructure and basic principles that form a common ground base on charters, treaties and universal human values as a reference that provides general guidelines for moving forward towards joint political action that is agreed upon, an that does not stem from a sense of dominance or competitiveness, but rather from a keenness to preserve the homeland and the interests of all.

Al-Wefaq explained that the Declaration of Principles and Common Interests is a major step among future steps that provide a temporary solution as a realistic way out from the political crisis in Bahrain, stressing that its approach to proceed with this project is the approach of dialogue and negotiation on the basis of victory for Bahrain, adding that it is fully prepare to go forward with a solution program based on national consensus and come out with a common vision.

Al-Wefaq further highlighted its commitment to national reconciliation, the adoption of a peaceful option and its deep belief in preserving the interests of all Bahrainis, and that the Declaration of Principles and Common Interests will be available to all local parties.

Al-Wefaq called on the Bahraini government to sit at the dialogue table and discuss this declaration to reach a common vision that would save Bahrain from the accumulation of political, economic, legal and social crises.

The Declaration is founded on consensus on the principles adopted and recognized in the successful experiences of democratic political systems. It consists of 13 universal human principles that serve as a model for moderation, stability and participation in governing the affairs of any country.

Al-Wefaq went on to say that it adopted these principles and interests according to international and Arab references, which formed the foundation for successful, stable and constructive experiences.

Al-Wefaq concluded its statement by asserting that it aims at finding radical lasting solutions that would "establish a state, where there is sovereignty of the law and state bodies, and which is representative of all its citizens, while taking into account the various particularities and geopolitical conditions; which will in turn shape a politically, economically and socially advanced country, based on equality, pluralism and liberties and reliant on competence, professionalism and competitiveness, upon which modern and stable countries are built."
