Bahrain Mirror: Commenting on speech of Bahrain Businesswomen's Society president Ahlam Janahi in which said that her society will organize "awareness sessions" for the potential candidates for upcoming elections, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development slammed Bahrain Business Women's Society, saying that the society has no right to work in politics.

The ministry said in a statement that Bahrain Business Women's Society has not right to implement any program with respect to women's participation in the political affairs through the House of Representatives or municipal council or others. However, it has to work within the framework of its role on promoting the presence of women in entrepreneurship.

It also explained that its decision 7/2000 regarding the license for registering the Bahrain Business Women's Society stipulated that "the society has no right to engage in politics or engage in financial speculation, and should not be affiliated with or engaged or join an association, body, club or federation headquartered outside Bahrain without prior permission from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs."

The ministry stressed on the importance of separation between civilian and political work and not mixing between them, highlighting the importance of the commitment of civil societies to legislation and established laws and decisions in this regard and not to expose itself to liability.
