Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's High Criminal Court accepted the objection of a Gulf national accused of using gun in a quarrel in one of Manama's hotels while he was drunk. The court sentenced him to one year in jail instead of 5.

The court had already sentenced the man to 5 years in jail and 500 BD fine and ordered the confiscation of the gun he had.

The prosecution accused him of acquiring, on January 3, 2018, a weapon and ammunition without a license from the competent party and referred him to the court.

The suspect denied using the weapon and said that he bought it from his country and forgot him in the car while entering Bahrain. However, the report of General Directorate of material evidence prove, through the chemical examination, that the barrel of the weapon contained firing residue, which confirms that the firing of ammunition was from the weapon. In addition, the police found an empty copper envelope for a firearm at the crime scene.
