Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain is once again flouting its international obligations by upholding a three-year prison sentence issued against prisoner of conscience Najah Al-Sheikh for exercising her right to peaceful expression of opinion, said Amnesty International on its Twitter account.

On Monday (October 29, 2018), the Court of Appeal upheld a verdict sentencing the prisoner of conscience and torture victim to three years' imprisonment.

Al-Sheikh was arrested from Nuwaidrat on April 27, 2017 for refusing to sign confessions on the politically-motivated charges raised against her.

Najah Al-Sheikh had suffered continuous harassment before her detention by the Muharraq police, as her family has confirmed that she had been subjected to torture and sexual harassment and threatened with attacks on her family if she did not confess to the charges raised against her.
