Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain won on Sunday (December 8, 2019) the Gulf Football Cup for the first time in its history, by winning in the final of the twenty-fourth edition "Gulf 24" hosted by Qatar, over Saudi Arabia 1-0 at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Al-Duhail Club in Doha.

Mohammed Al-Rumaihi scored the only goal in the 69th minute of the match, during which Saudi Arabia ended the opportunity to progress after it missed a penalty in the first half, through Salman Al-Faraj.

Kuwait is the most crowned team in the Gulf Cup with 10 titles, followed by Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Qatar with three titles, and the Emirates and Sultanate of Oman with two titles, while Yemen did not taste the crowning title.

The Saudi national team was qualified from Group B, occupying first place with six points, along with  the Bahraini team with four points and a difference in the number of goals from the title holder, Oman.

In the semifinals, the Saudi team defeated the host, Qatar (1-0). Meanwhile, the Bahraini team won over the Iraqi team, which was the first candidate to win the Cup, with penalties scoring 5-3, after the game finished with a 2-2 tie.
