Al-Wefaq Praises Baghdad Summit, Calls for Defusing Tension in Region

Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society called for building on the outcome of the Baghdad summit and working to defuse tensions in the region.

The society which considered Baghdad summit "an advanced step in establishing a new and stable reality in the region," stressed the need of the region, governments, and peoples to work more in order to form common visions in various files in order to achieve stability, development, progress, and partnership at the economic, political, security, and societal levels.

Al-Wefaq hoped that this summit will achieve a solid bloc that will permanently create strength for the countries of the region and contribute to strengthening stability, exchange, integration, cooperation, and coordination at all levels, which will restore consideration and provide conditions of power for all.

The society appreciated the vital role of the Iraqi government and people in providing an environment for convergence and meeting between the countries of the region and their various components.

The Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, held Saturday in the Iraqi capital, aims to ease tensions in the Middle East and emphasizes Iraq's role as a mediator.

The summit was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad, representatives from Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
