Bahrain Mirror: Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, held on Tuesday a meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel, Naftali Bennett, at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference, in Glasgow, Scotland. The meeting between both sides coincided with the anniversary of Balfour Declaration.

The two sides met in Glasgow, Scotland, as part of their participation in the COP26 conference, which kicked off on Monday, the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Salman bin Hamad highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to upholding regional peace, development and stability.

He noted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation between both countries.

The Crown Prince and Prime Minister also noted the importance of building upon the progress made following the signing of the Declaration of Peace.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister described, via his Twitter account, the first meeting as "historic," attaching a short video clip showing a warm handshake and smiles between the two sides.

This is the first meeting between the Prime Minister of Israel and a Bahraini official of this level since the signing of the normalization agreement between the two countries last year.

Balfour's ominous declaration is the letter sent by Arthur James Balfour, Britain's Foreign Secretary, on November 2, 1917, to Jewish Lionel Walter Rothschild, in which he showed the British government's support for the establishment of a "Jewish national homeland" in Palestine.
