23 MPs Approve Increasing VAT in "Confidential Session"

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Parliament passed a resolution on (Tuesday, December 7, 2021) increasing the value-added tax to 10% starting January (in 3 weeks), after 23 attendees approved the resolution.

The MPs who approved the resolution attempted to hide their identities from media outlets, requesting to turn the session into a confidential one. The request was met with 20 voting in favor and 18 against.

Three of the MPs, who rejected making the session confidential, were in favor of raising the VAT.

MPs who approved the increase are:

Ahmed Al-Saloum, Ahmed Al-Ansari, Ahmed Al-Amer, Ahmed Al-Damistani, Basem Al-Maliki, Badr Al-Dosari, Hamad Al-Kouheji, Sawsan Kamal, Isa Al-Kouheji, Isa Al-Dosari, Ammar Qambar, Mohammad Al-Sisi, Ghazi Rahma, Adel Al-Asoumi, Abdullah Al-Thawadi, Ali Al-Nuaimi, Ali Ishaki, Ali Zayed, Abdulrazzaq Hattab, Fatima Al-Qatari, Ammar Al-Banay, Isa Al-Qadi and Fawzia Zainal.

MPs who rejected the increase are:

Ibrahim Al-Nafiei, Sayed Falah Hachem, Khaled Bo Onq, Mohammad Bou Hamoud, Abdulnabi Salman, Fadel Al-Sawad, Ammar Al Abbas, Hicham Al-Oshairi, Mohammad ISa, Mamdouh Al-Saleh, Kolthum Al-Hayiki, Zaynab Abdulamir, Maasouma Abdulrahim, Mahmoud Al Bahrani and Yousif Al-Thawadi. 

It is to mention that Yousif Zainal didn't vote, while Abdullah Al-Dossari didn't attend the session.
