Bahrain Mirror: Scholars and preachers in Bahrain expressed their "deep concern and regret over the recent suspicious changes made by the Ministry of Education in a number of curricula prescribed in public schools," noting that "what the ministry has done amounts to distorting the contents and falsifying facts."

The scholars and preachers denounced in a joint statement "the ministry's deletion of some of the hadiths narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim, the disposition of some facts and events of the Prophet's biography, and the replacement of a poem about Al-Quds and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque among other alterations, to the extent of falsifying content and facts."

They stressed that "what the ministry has done is a serious and unprecedented prejudice to our fundamentals, values and belonging, and a clear absenting of the cause of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two qiblas and the third of the two mosques," rejecting this step, because it (the cause) is derived from the texts of the Holy Qur'an and the purified Sunnah that has the consensus of the nation, and therefore it must be glorified and complied with, and it is forbidden to refrain from it and keep it concealed."

While noting that "these recent unjustified changes in our curricula have nothing to do with tolerance and coexistence", they said: "We do not accept at all that anyone imposes a guardianship on us or tries to reformulate our Islamic and Arab identity."

They appealed "all members of society and its institutions to play their firm role in rejecting such a dangerous step and confronting it out of care for our religion and principles, protecting our sanctities, immunizing our children and generations, and fulfilling the duty of responsibility that we bear."

They called on the Ministry of Education to "immediately reverse this step and restore the situation to normal, and even reinforce the fundamentals and sanctities in our curricula."
