Bahrain Mirror: On Sunday, June 11, 2023, regime forces attacked the shrine of the great companion "Sa'asa'a bin Souhan" which includes a shrine and a mosque in the village of Askar, southern of Manama, where the forces took off its gate and closed its entrance with blocks, according to the "Naba'a" Channel.

This attack coincided with a campaign launched by citizens under the hashtag open_Sa'asa'a_Shrine on Twitter, demanding the regime to reopen and rehabilitate the shrine, stop the persecution of Shiites and stop attacking their mosques, Husseiniyas and prayers, as well as the systematic targeting against them.

In May 2023, Al-Wefaq called on the regime to open the shrine which dates back to 1,300 years, noting in a statement that "this religious shrine has a special place among a large part of Muslims in Bahrain and abroad."

Al-Wefaq warned that "closing the shrine and preventing citizens from visiting it constitutes a flagrant challenge to the feelings and beliefs of citizens and reflects the extent of persecution and contempt for citizens in their rites and beliefs."

Since 2011, the shrine of the great companion "Sa'asa'a bin Souhan Al-Abdi" has been subjected to at least five attacks, one in March 2012, another in January 2014, two attacks in April 2014, one of which damaged the shrine itself, and one in July 2016.
