Bahrain Mirror: Angry crowds in A'ali took part in funeral ritual of the torture victim and former political detainee, Mohammad Abdullah Hasan Yaackoub, 32, who passed away after two years of his temporarily release as a result of developing lung cancer.

Mourners chanted slogans which held the political regime responsible for the death of Yaackoub due to the medical negligence he suffered in prison.

Before the funeral procession began, the Interior Ministry summoned father of martyr Yaackoub and threatened to target his children if the funeral route was not changed to the martyr's final resting place.

Yaackoub died on July 5, 2023. The security authorities released him, temporarily, two years ago, until he recovers from cancer disease which he developed at Jaw prison.

The authorities arrested him in September 2015 and held him at the Dry Dock Prison, where he was subjected to severe torture, electrocuted, medically neglected.  He showed several symptoms, including blood coming out of his mouth without the prison administration allowing him real treatment, and then he was transferred to Jaw Central Prison.

In October 2016, the authorities sentenced Yaackoub to life term, revoked his citizenship and fined him 200,000 dinars for "joining a terrorist group", the February 14 Youth Coalition.

One year after several symptoms appeared on him, he was infected with the "Coronavirus" in 2021. The prison administration prevented his father from meeting him in the "military hospital", where he stayed for 20 days after he was transferred due to suffering serious health symptoms which the prison administration deliberately neglected. He was then transferred to "Al-Salmaniya" Medical Complex where doctors diagnosed his lung cancer.
