Sunni Endowments Directorate Welcomes Sheikhs from Saudi, Kuwait While Government Bans Preachers from Visiting Bahrain to Attend Ashura Rituals

Bahrain Mirror: The Sunni Endowments (Waqf) hosted sheikhs from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to deliver sermons in several areas while the authorities' banned Shiites from hosting preachers and eulogy reciters from outside Bahrain to participate in Ashura ceremonies.
On Thursday, July 20, 2023, Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa announced that Bahrain would prevent preachers and eulogy reciters from coming to the country to participate in the Ashura rituals.
Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said that "Bahrain doesn't need foreign preachers and chanters," adding that "the Kingdom has qualified Ashura chanters who are always ready to take up their religious responsibilities."
He said that "Bahrain isn't a religious tourism destination, and Ashura rituals are for mourners in Bahrain."
