Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's detained opposition leaders reiterated the validity of the hunger strikers' demands, expressing "concern for their wellbeing."

In a joint statement from Jaw Central Prison, the opposition leaders called for "enabling independent international organizations and the UN Special Rapporteur on torture to conduct a direct and comprehensive investigation on prison conditions" in Bahrain.

"We tried the state institutions which are concerned with human rights, namely: the Ombudsman, the Special Investigation Unit, the National Institution for Human Rights, and the Prisoners' Commission, but we did not find them independent or credible," they said, stressing that they have "evidence proving the lack of independence and credibility of these institutions."

The leaders renewed their "basic demand for justice, the release of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience and the disclosure of the truth and reparations."
