Bahrain Mirror: The US embassy in Bahrain published a security notice advising its American nationals to be aware and to take a number of measures in the wake of demonstrations witnessed in Bahrain in solidarity with Palestine.

The embassy announced that it reopened for regular business October 19, 2023, after it closed its doors on Wednesday following "an unannounced demonstration of around 30 persons occurred near the U.S. Embassy Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 1930 local time, after close of business."

The US embassy in Bahrain said that "it is closely monitoring the security environment in Bahrain and throughout the region, including calls for demonstrations in Bahrain and neighboring countries.  The US Embassy is not aware of specific, credible, or actionable threats against the embassy or US persons and interests in Bahrain."

The US Embassy advised its citizens "to continue exercising caution, refer to official news sources and government websites for information, and maintain personal security awareness," amid a rise in online commentary and disinformation regarding events in Israel and Gaza.

It also published a number of measures to be taken including "avoiding areas with demonstrations, keeping a low profile, not drawing attention to yourself, being aware of your surroundings, monitoring local media for update and reviewing your personal security plans."

The US Embassy closed its doors on Saturday following calls for demonstrations in front of the embassy in solidarity with the Palestinians and condemning the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. It also advised the US nationals in Bahrain to "avoid the area around the US Embassy," and "avoid other locations with large crowds."
