Bahrain Mirror: Political prisoner, held in Jaw Central Prison, Mohamed Hasan Abdulla AlRamal, 64, confirmed the ongoing escalating violations against him and his continued isolation since May 23, 2024, in Building 2, unfit for living, after his transfer from Building 8 in reprisal for demanding adequate meals. This prompted him to start a new, ongoing hunger strike.

In a voice recording, prisoner AlRamal said on Thursday, June 6, 2024: "This building is for isolation, for torture only. They brought me here for revenge. It's been 9 days and they haven't brought me my clothes and necessities from Building 8. They deal with us according to their mood. Revenge against us is not normal. I don't know how long this will continue."

AlRamal revealed that political prisoners in Buildings 7, 8, 9, and 10 faced political reprisals, and that many are in solitary confinement for demanding rights. He detailed reprisal by the Jaw Prison administration, including isolation, medical neglect, and sectarian discrimination against Shias.

ADHRB condemned the Bahraini Ministry of Interior's disregard for the conditions of detainees in Jaw Prison and the failure of the Ombudsman and Public Prosecution to investigate political and sectarian retaliation against prisoners of conscience.

ADHRB went on to say that "in a voice that reflects unbearable exhaustion and pain, prisoner Mohamed Hasan Abdulla (AlRamal), isolated in Bldg 2 of Jaw Prison and hunger-striking for 9 days, protested his denial of medical care and adequate meals, speaking about the political and sectarian reprisal against him."

The human rights organization added that due to the hunger strike, his blood sugar dropped, threatening his life, noting that the Jaw Prison administration is ignoring his serious condition. ADHRB stated that he is facing abuse, sectarian discrimination, and reprisals by officers Hamad AlDosari, Hisham AlZayani, Ahmed AlEmadi, Bader AlRuwai, Yusuf AlQadadi, and Abdulla Omar.

ADHRB urged the cooperation of international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to guarantee the rights of detainees, including the cessation of isolation and medical negligence to which AlRamal is subjected.

For its part, the Al-Wefaq Society stressed in a statement on Thursday that "the prison administration practices a humanitarian violation by depriving him of receiving treatment for many years, exacerbating his health condition, in addition to acute infections in his legs following surgery where he was denied medication."

Bahraini authorities had arrested AlRamal on November 3, 2015, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment, but his health condition poses a serious threat if he remains in prison.
