Bahrain Mirror: More member states at the UN Human Rights Council condemned on Monday (September 19, 2016), the measures adopted by the Bahraini authorities against the Bahraini opposition and civil society institutions.

On his level, the Swiss representative expressed his country's concern in relation to dissolving the Al-Wefaq Islamic National Society, and increasing the imprisonment sentence against its Secretary General Sheikh Ali Salman to 9 years. He also condemned the travel ban imposed on the Bahraini rights activists.

On the other hand, the Czech Republic representative criticized the revocation of religious leader Sheikh Isa Qassim's citizenship, and the targeting campaign against Head of Religious Freedom Unit at the Bahrain Observatory for Human Rights, Sheikh Maytham Al-Salman.

Meanwhile Denmark's personnel at the HRC demanded the release of Bahraini political detainees and opposition figures, in particular the prominent human rights activists Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, and called for his immediate release.

The aforementioned new convictions come in light of the widespread campaign led by the Bahraini governmental and semi-governmental bodies, against the UN Human Rights Council, accusing it of being "bias" or "politicized".
