Bahrain Mirror: Prisoner of conscience in Jaw Central Prison, Jassim Khalil Al-Saffar, confirmed that the contaminated drinking water crisis in the prison has worsened.

The Bahrain Prisoners' Affairs Authority quoted Al-Saffar, who is detained in Building No. 9 in Jaw Prison, as saying that "the water is dirty and has a strange color and is not suitable for drinking," noting that there is no "drinking water in the canteen to buy."

Al-Saffar confirmed that the detainees told the prison administration about the water contamination but no one responded.

It is worth noting that the suffering of inmates in Jaw Prison from water cuts in public facilities dates back several years, according to the head of the monitoring department at Salam for Democracy and Human Rights, Ibtisam Al-Saegh.

Al-Saegh had said, in a post on the "X" platform, 5 years ago, that "the water was cut off for 14 hours and then the water supply was turned back on but it was running very weak in the taps for a short period," noting that "the prisoners complain of an acute shortage of drinking water, and cry out due to thirst amid silence of the prison administration."
