Bahrain Mirror (exclusive): Bahrain Mirror has obtained a copy of the letter sent by the Bahraini opposition societies to the King, Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. The letter calls on him to “reach a national consensus before conducting the elections”, in order to develop a solution to the continuous crisis that began in 2011. On receiving the Crown Princes’ paper about the five issues for dialogue, the letter said, “conducting the 2014 elections without a consensus will increase divisions and deepen the crisis, leading Bahrain to experiences felt elsewhere in the region.” The opposition societies said, “Their fair and legal demands are still awaiting a response: a response that is the only way to save Bahrain from this chronic crisis, and a cycle of repeated crises.

The letter also asked the King to, “put an end to the sharp political divisions, or at least agree on managing this division in a modernized way.” The opposition societies further announced, “We are giving enough of a sincere and flexible hand to reach a national consensus that makes Bahrain a successful example in the region”.

"In The Name of God the Most Merciful the Most Gracious

Your Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa (May Allah] protect him)

The King of the Kingdom of Bahrain

2001 was a year of national consensus to end the period of state security. A year when the expectations of the people were met with the promise of the regime to open a new page in which the public participation would be welcomed into decision making, through an elected parliament with the utmost legislative and regulatory powers, and through municipal councils that have privileges. As 2001 ended, this national consensus began to disperse once the constitution was issued in a manner different from that which was agreed upon. However, the parliamentary and municipal experiences were very disappointing with respect to the ambitions of all Bahrainis. With every held session, the people’s lack of belief in the parliamentary and municipal experiences increased, for these experiences lack the legislative and regulatory powers. With every held session, the people felt the ongoing failure of the policies of the said government, the invasion of administrative and financial corruption and the consolidation of the policy of discrimination and naturalization which is devastating to the country.

Your Majesty,

This frustration concurred with the winds of change that struck, and is still striking the Arab world. Thus, the people came out and expressed their expectations that you, personally, described as “just and legal demands”.

Your Majesty,

These “just and legal demands” are still waiting your majesty’s response; the response that is considered the only way, with the help of Allah, to save Bahrain from this chronic crisis, and the cycle of repeated crises. Your response will lead to establish security, stability, and sustainable development for Bahrain. This shall reshape the image of Bahrain and its political system; regain its international respect and positive indicators.

 Your Majesty,

Our beloved country, Bahrain, lives within a severely turbulent area. An area susceptible to further problems and threatened with Takfirist terrorism. This calls the Bahrainis to stand hand in hand, more than ever before, to face these regional conditions and threats, and to work on putting an end to the sharp political division, or, at least, to agree on managing this division in a modernized manner that does not affect the ability of Bahrain to face the intensifying political, economic, and social challenges.

Your Majesty,

The issuing of the 2002 constitution, in a manner different from the agreed upon, the frustrating parliamentary experience in its past three roles and the obvious failure of the appointed government, led to a sharp political division and worsened the political, economic, and social crises. However, proceeding in the 2014 elections, without a national political consensus, will definitely lead to an increase in these divisions and root the crises; thus Bahrain will be vulnerable to regional interactions and fluctuations. Any rational person who loves his country would not like this to happen.

Your Majesty,

The National Democratic Forces are giving an enough sincere and flexible hand to reach a national consensus that makes Bahrain a successful example in the region. This agreement shall be met with a regional and international support that craves for positive and peaceful developments.

"Thank you and best regards,

The National Democratic Forces
