Bahrain Mirror: The Shiite cleric Sheikh Issa Eid said that he received "on Monday (June 29, 2015) a notice from Hamad City police station at Roundabout 17 summoning me to the police station. I complied with the orders and after I waited for two hours, the police chief met with me and asked me about the political issues I had mentioned in my Friday sermon, not to mention my incitement of hatred against the regime."

According to the Al-Wasat newspaper, Eid said: "I made it clear that my speeches on politics are based on the news published by local newspapers and media and the statements of officials; which are announced and not hidden. I also stressed that I am entitled to address these issues for the purpose of giving advice to government officials in order to safeguard the public interest."

"The investigation tackled the sermon in which I criticized the Jaffaria Endowments Directorate. I emphasized that my criticism did not aim at finding fault with the Jaffaria endowments but at preserving public money," he added, denying the charge of hate speech raised against him.

Sheikh Eid pointed out that he left the police station after the investigation was concluded, noting that he received "good treatment", according to the newspaper.
