Bahrain Mirror: The defense lawyer of Bahrain's opposition leader, Abdullah Al-Shamlawi, stated on Sunday (June 5, 2015) that the Bahraini Public Prosecution has appealed the verdict issued on June 21, 2015 against the Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Sheikh Ali Salman, in which he was acquitted of promoting to change the political regime by force, claiming that it lacks reason and contradicts confirmed documents.

The prosecution looked into the previous verdict acquitting Sheikh Ali Salman of charges of promoting the overthrow of the regime by force, inciting contempt against naturalized citizens and disobeying the law. It also stressed that the sentence issued against Salman does not conform with the rest of the charges he was convicted with. The prosecution pointed out that the court of appeals will reconsider the verdict and harshen the sentence issued against him.

It is worth mention that the high criminal court has sentenced Sheikh Ali Salman to four years in prison over charges of inciting civil disobedience of the law, promoting hatred against a sect of people and insulting Bahrain's Ministry of Interior and acquitted him of the charge of seeking to overthrow the regime by force.
