Bahrain Mirror: Reports revealed that the Bahraini security forces interrogated Sheikh Maitham Al-Salman, Head of the Religious Freedom Unit of Bahrain Human Rights Observatory, regarding his statements about anti-Shiism and spreading information about the human rights violations committed by security forces in Bahrain's island of Sitra.

Sheikh Al-Salman was charged with "inciting hatred against the regime" through his statements about the involvement of official media in spreading an anti-Shiite culture and "promoting false news about Sitra" in the framework of the ongoing security campaign on the village that has led to arresting dozens of citizens.

Sheikh Al-Salman was arrested at Bahrain's International Airport on Saturday (August 8, 2015) upon his return from a trip abroad in which he participated in international human rights events. Al-Salman was taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Al-Adliya area before the authorities released him due to pressures made by the UN high commissioner for human rights.
