Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's First High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa and membership of judges Dia' Huraidi and Issamuldeem Mohammad Khalil and Naji Abdullah as secretariat, acquitted on Monday (December 7, 2015) five policemen of charges of torturing detainees to extract false confessions.

Since 2011, the violations committed by security forces against citizens have increased, following the crackdown on nation-wide pro-democracy protests led by a Shiite majority suffering from marginalization.

This widespread government suppression led to more severe criticism of Bahrain's human rights record, and so the Bahraini regime in response established the Bahraini Institution for Human Rights, Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission and the Special Investigation Unit.

Human Rights organizations; however, say that establishing such institutions hasn't prevented security forces from continuing their grave abuses against protestors and political prisoners. This is what Human Rights Watch confirmed recently in the report it issued and stated that the ongoing violations result from Bahrain's continued policy of impunity.
