Bahrain Mirror (AP): Bahrain says 29 people have been sentenced to prison over a 2014 bombing that targeted police officers in the tiny island kingdom.

The state-run Bahrain News Agency quoted Bahraini terror crimes prosecutor Gen. Ahmed al-Hammadi as announcing the verdicts and saying that two of the 29 had their citizenship revoked over the attack.

Al-Hammadi also said the defendants received sentences ranging from five years to life in prison over their convictions.

Al-Hammadi said on Tuesday that the Dec. 19, 2014, bombing damaged police vehicles and wounded officers.

Bahrain has faced low-level unrest for more than four years, sparked by widespread 2011 protests among the country's Shiite majority demanding greater political rights from the Sunni-led monarchy.

Bahrain hosts the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
