Three-Year Jail Term Handed down to Suspect & 6 Months to Another over Sitra Assembly

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Fifth Criminal Court, presided over by Abdulla Al-Ashraf with membership of judges Mohsen Mabrouk and Moutaz Abo Al-Ezz, and Abdullah Mohammed Mohsen as secretariat, two suspects over charges of starting a fire, illegal assembly and possession of Molotov in Sitra. The court handed down a 3-year jail term to the first suspect and 6-month term to the other.

The Public prosecution accused the two suspects of deliberately setting people's properties to fire, on April 19, 2015, endangering people's lives and properties for a terrorist purpose, and participating in an assembly of more than 5 persons to disturb public security as well as having possession of Molotov cocktails, aiming at using them in way that puts people's lives and public and private properties to danger.

The authorities claimed that they received a report from the Sitra police station stating that the security forces are dealing with about 40 protestors who set 6 tires and a water tank to fire. They also allege that the protestors hurled Molotov cocktails and metal rods at the police. Through the investigations it carried out, the police said it was able to reach the two suspects.
